• KNIGHT RIDER (1982 - 1986)

  • Our Rating: xxxx 4/5

  • Created By: Glen A. Larson

  • Starring: David Hasselhoff

This American TV series started in 1982, starring the very handsome David Hasselhoff (these days known as The Hoff) as Michael Knight. It started whereby undercover cop Michael Long was shot in the face but rescued by self-made billionaire Wilton Knight, creator of the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG a private crime-fighting arm of Knight Industries). Michael's given a new identity (through plastic surgery) and a new name - Michael Knight. Once fully recovered, Michael starts to work for flag and is teamed up with Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT), a very hi-tech car (it was a black Pontiac Trans Am for those car lovers out there), controlled by a computer with artificial intelligence.

  • A-Team (1983 - 1987)

  • Our Rating: xxxxx 5/5

  • Created By: Frank Lupo, Stephen J. Cannell

  • Starring: George Peppard, Mr. T, Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz

Ahh the fab four, who can forget Hannibal (the leader), Face (con-man and appropriator of vehicles and other useful items), Howling Mad Murdock (the Pilot who happens to be declared insane) and B.A. Baracus AKA Mr T (the team's strong man and mechanic). The A-Team revolved around these four characters who were formerly members of a commando outfit but are on the run from the Army after being branded as war criminals for a "crime they didn't commit". Despite being thought of as mercenaries by the other characters in the show, the A-Team always acted on the side of good and helped the oppressed. I loved how they could always make weapons out of practically nothing but junk and the fight scenes were just awesome!

  • THUNDERCATS (1985 - 1987)

  • Our Rating: xxxx 4/5

  • Created By: Rankin/Bass, Ted Wolf

  • Starring: Bob McFadden, Larry Kenney and Earl Hammond

Back in the 80's unlike today kids were spoiled for choice with great cartoons, Mask, He-Man, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors to name but a few but in my opinion one stood above all others - THUNDERCATS. It's no exaggeration to say that this cartoon was the highlight of my television week, never an episode missed and always a joy to watch. It had everything a young boy could want, cool gadgets, superpowers, the best baddie ever; a Yoda-esk teacher and tons of action in every episode. The story follows a group of aliens based on cats (were not talking about fluffy in the corner asleep on your chair types...) and each one inherited an exaggerated version of their abilities.
